Adult Volunteers
Girlguiding isn't just for girls.
Thanks to the dedication and support of over 100,000 amazing volunteers, we are active in every part of the UK, giving girls and young women a space where they can be themselves, have fun, build brilliant friendships, gain valuable life skills and make a positive difference to their lives and their communities.
There are various volunteer roles in guiding. Many volunteers give their time as Leaders or Assistant Leaders for guiding units and get to see girls enjoying events and activities that they have organised. Other volunteers take on administrative responsibilities, or help out with driving or maintenance on an occasional basis.
Every Rainbow, Brownie, Guide and Ranger unit has at least one Leader who has completed the Girlguiding Leadership Qualification. Leaders are women aged 18 or over. They have overall responsibility for the unit, although the tasks will be shared between a small team of assistant leaders and helpers.
Helpers are vital in enabling the units to keep running. They help out either on a rota system, or just whenever they can, providing the Leaders with an extra pair of hands. Volunteer helpers have the flexibility and freedom to give whatever time they’re able to.
We take the safety of our girls and adult volunteers very seriously, so everyone age 18+ helping with units must complete a basic online Safe Space session. Further training may be required depending on the role, such as further Safe Space sessions, first aid training, digital safeguarding awareness and DBS checks.
If you would like to join us on Anglesey as a potential Leader or helper then find out more about the opportunities available on the Girlguiding UK website, then contact us using the secure Join Us system.
Being a Leader: About the Sections
Girlguiding Inspire (18-30)
We realise that younger adult volunteers may be unable to commit to regular weekly meetings, or would like to join in events beyond Anglesey.
There are loads of opportunities for members aged 18 to 30 to choose from. They fit into seven themed pathways. You can follow one particular pathway or, because we’re all different, mix and match to create a new path just for you. As well as the seven pathways, you can access learning and achieve awards. And for when you just want to socialise, there's a range of fun opportunities to make new friends and catch up with old ones.
Whatever you decide to do, you'll be joining a community of women choosing their own path and shaping the future for us all.

Trefoil Guild
We have a Trefoil Guild branch on Anglesey which is open to anyone aged 18 or over. There is an interesting programme of activities throughout the year.
Trefoil Guild is a branch of Girlguiding and the members agree to support the guiding ethos – including the pledge to help other people. In Trefoil Guild, women and men 18+ make new friends, travel, explore, serve their communities and help Guiding (and Scouting) thrive.
