Libby Hope Jones - Chair of Trefoil Guild

When did you join Girlguiding?
Started at the age of 7 as a Brownie, then a guide. At 18, I became an assistant cub scout leader. In 1976 I signed up as an Adult leader in Guiding on Anglesey with 1st Anglesey (YMCA) Guide Unit. Later moved to 1st Brynsiencyn Guides and later as a leader in 2nd Llangefni brownies. Completing 40 years as an adult leader on Anglesey.

My favourite thing about Girlguiding is:
As a leader, challenges, badgework and camping! Now, sharing the friendship, cooperation and support of the Trefoil Guide plus complaining diaries of our activities.

Outside of Girlguiding:
I finally retired last May (in my 70s!) and I am now enjoying my time both outdoors and indoors. I am rediscovering the joys of gardening, taking a greater interest in wildlife and returning to crafting. I enjoy creating ‘diaries’ for our Trefoil guide with ‘old fashioned’; cut and paste - technology remains a challenge!

I joined Guides in 1953 when I changed schools, I continued as a Ranger and after college returned to Yorkshire and became a Guide Leader. In 1976, I became a Guide Leader on Anglesey and over the next 45 years have worn many hats!

My favourite thing about Girlguiding is:
As a teenager, guiding gave me a great deal of self confident and /i love seeing the girls gaining confidence and learning new skills.

Outside of Girlguiding:
I enjoy lots of craft activities, gardening and meeting friends for lunch.
