Louise Marsden - County Commissioner
I joined girlguiding over 25 years ago as a Guide in Valley, moved onto, Holy Island Ranger & now a leader with Holyhead Guides.
My favourite thing to about Girlguidiing is:
Having adventures! We always plan trips, activity days away & camps, with the main aim of having fun, maybe learning something new or doing something different.
Outside of Girlguiding:
I regularly go on hikes around Anglesey & North Wales; I love sailing holidays and work for a tidal energy company based in Holyhead.
Rhian Lloyd-Williams - West Anglesey Division Commissioner
I joined Girlguiding as a brownie in 1997, with my mum being ‘Snowy Owl’ at our local Brownie unit. Since then I have volunteered and helped out at Units up to today where I run my own Rainbow unit in Valley.
My favourite thing about Girlguiding is:
Building lots of friendships, going away on residentials!
Outside of Girlguiding:
I’m a teacher! In the summer holidays, you’ll find me spending time with my family, reading a book or with a cross stitch in my hand.
Anna Townsley - East Anglesey Division Commissioner
I joined Girlguiding at the age of 7 as a Brownie and continued to be a Guide and then rejoined in 2007 as an adult leader.
My favourite thing about Girlguiding is:
Meeting people and adventures!
Outside of Girlguiding:
I like to read, do jigsaws, go for walks and spend time gardening. I also work in a post office.
Jane Hawksey - Unit Leader and Inclusion and Diversity Adviser
When did you join Girlguiding?
I started in Brownies in Sale, Cheshire, around 1993 and went through till Rangers. While at the same time growing up with a Group Scout Leader as a Mom and being involved with Scouting at the same time.
When I was 18, I started volunteering at Brownies in Holyhead for a year or two.
Then I took a break from Girlguiding until I had my own daughter and offered to help at her Rainbows unit. Two weeks later, I started my leadership training and was offered the opportunity to take on the unit in Jan 2023. As of Jan 2025, I'm now also the Inclusion & Diversity Adviser for the county.
My favourite thing about Girlguiding is:
I love seeing the girls grow and thrive. Pushing their limits and exploring boundaries.
Outside of Girlguiding:
I am a crafter and I love doing paper crafts with my daughter. I do Kickboxing, I enjoy the challenge it brings me. I'm a disabled parent to a neurodiverse and medically complex child. I am also a member of the LGBTQIA+ community.
Bethan Lloyd-Williams - County PR
When did you join Girlguiding?
I joined Girlguiding as a brownie in 1997, with my mum being ‘Snowy Owl’ at our local Brownie unit. Since then I have volunteered and helped out at Units, before moving to Liverpool where I had my own Rainbow Unit (whom I miss dearly!). I somehow have ended up sat around the Executive table of Anglesey Girlguiidng as County PR and Mentor (might be something to do with my sister being a commissioner!!).
My favourite thing about GIrlguiding is:
Watching the girls flourish and camping weekends!
Outside of Girlguiding:
I love being outdoors! Hiking a mountain, paddleboarding, cycling or just wandering around the beautiful British countryside we have. I am happiest outdoors for sure and flip flops and shorts are my staple outfit because you don’t need shoes on the beach.
I also enjoy baking and getting creative with celebration cakes.

When did you join Girlguiding?
I joined as a Brownie and guide myself, then a ventured to scouts for a while and some time out and rejoined around 2020.
My favourite thing about Girlguiding is:
Get outdoors and do adventurous activities
Outside of Girlguiding:
I camp in castles regularly as a member of a medieval reenactment society

When did you join Girlguiding?
I was in Guiding as a child from 5 to 18 as a Rainbow, Brownie, Guide and Young Leader and onto this position I am in now.
My favourite thing about Girlguiding is:
Camping and seeing young members become confident leaders.
Outside of Girlguiding:
I sing in a competition choir called The Chanterelles and I collect hobbies.

When did you join Girlguiding?
I have been a Guide Leader for 27 years formerly in Stalybridge Manchester and the last 3 years since opening our unit in Llangefni
My favourite thing about Girlguiding is:
Seeing the girls grow in confidence, becoming independent and enjoying themselves
Outside of Girlguiding:
Best thing that has happened to me was becoming a Nannie to our much awaited Grandson Foxx Blue
Taught myself to crochet during Covid and can’t stop I am addicted!
Foxxy has so many hats and blankets! Retired after 40 years in the Civil Service and now enjoy cleaning some amazing holiday homes in Rhosneigr.

When did you join Girlguiding?
I started out as a rainbow and went all the way through, took a break when I was 16 then found Guiding again in early 2020!
My favourite thing about Girlguiding is:
Watching the girls grow into young confident women
Outside of Girlguiding:
I don't think there's a hobby I haven't at least seriously considerer! Currently my free time is spent with friends, reading, crocheting or roller skating! I also play the trumpet (which makes up for the quieter hobbies)

When did you join Girlguiding?
I joined as a Brownie when I was 7 and never left!!
My favourite thing about Girlguiding is:
The community and how it brings girls of all backgrounds together.
I love the variety of activities the program brings and seeing the smile on the kids faces when they achieve their badges.
Outside of Girlguiding:
I am a dental nurse and spend most of my day working on oral health education.
I have recently become a gym addict. In what little spare time I get I live to read. I often bake novelty cakes for friends and family.. I love Coldwater swimming especially in a beautiful Anglesey sea. I’ve only lived in Anglesey for six years and Guiding was my first priority. I found a brownie group before I found a job. I am currently learning Welsh and find that the children are fantastic at helping.

When did you join Girlguiding?
I have been in Guiding for 11 years. I have been a Rainbow and Brownie in Treaddur Bay and a Guide and Ranger in Holyhead
My favourite thing about Girlguiding is:
I love going to camps and meeting new people
Outside of Girlguiding:
I am currently studying my AS levels in physics, biology and maths and I aspire to one day work in aerospace engineering.

When did you join Girlguiding?
As a child I was a member of Brownies and then progressed into Girl Guiding.
My favourite thing about Girlguiding is:
My first experience of camping away from home, I remember very well and feel terribly guilty as I was SO home sick that I ended up sleeping in "captains" tent. Although there have been many changes since my time I strongly believe that the ethos remains the same and I am very grateful to be able to help/contribute/raise funds in any way that I can.
Outside of Girlguiding:
I moved to the Island of Anglesey from Hertfordshire 8 years ago. I am married to Martin and we have two children, Sam, who is a father to twins, Tudor and Rosie and Emily, who is a single, independent woman working in London.
